Integrated Farm Assurance version 6.1 Smart and GRASP v2.1 to be published in September 2026

3 min read

Agraya will release version updates to GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) v6.1 Smart for plants and aquaculture, as well as the most widely implemented add-on, GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) v2.1, on 1 September 2026.

The update from IFA v6.0 to v6.1 applies to the Smart edition of the standard only. To maintain alignment between IFA and GRASP, with this combination already implemented by more than 118,000 producers worldwide, GRASP will also be updated from version 2 to version 2.1.

The new version introduces a series of technical improvements designed to enhance clarity, usability, and consistency while maintaining the integrity of the standard.

At the same time, the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA v6.1 GFS edition is undergoing a separate revision as part of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarking process. Further information on the IFA v6.1 GFS update will be communicated in due course.

What’s new in IFA v6.1 Smart for plants and aquaculture?

The update focuses on improving the implementation of the standard rather than introducing fundamental changes to its requirements. Several principles and criteria remain unchanged. Key updates include:

  • Integration of all changes previously communicated through technical newsletters.
  • Clarified wording across the principles and criteria to improve consistency and interpretation.
  • Minor additions and outcome-based wording to selected principles and criteria.
  • Reduced references to evidence required in documented format, providing greater flexibility in demonstrating compliance.

For the Aquaculture category, the update also includes an extension of the existing criteria based on re-recognition processes.

What’s new in GRASP v2.1?

  • Sampling requirements are updated to align with the changes introduced in IFA v6.1 Smart

Publication and transition timeline

The IFA v6.1 Smart normative documents will be published in the GLOBALG.A.P. Document Centre on 1 September 2026. More details on transition and replacement of IFA v6.0 Smart will be shared in due course.

Supporting a smooth transition

The IFA v6.1 Smart reflects Agraya’s commitment to the continuous improvement of GLOBALG.A.P. standards. By incorporating stakeholder feedback, technical clarifications, and previously communicated updates into a single release, the new version provides producers, certification bodies, and other stakeholders with a clearer and more streamlined framework for implementation. Further details on the changes in IFA v6.1 Smart for each product category will be published in August 2026.

As the updates primarily address implementation feedback, technical clarifications, and editorial improvements, without changing the content or requirements of the standard, IFA v6.1 was not subject to a public consultation.
