Agraya recently conducted two on-site visits in Japan to document how local producers follow GLOBALG.A.P. standards in their operations and use the GGN label to promote their dedication to responsible farming practices.
These visits form part of an ongoing initiative to highlight the commitment of participating producers and illustrate the practical application of responsible farming principles.
The first visit took place at Asano Co., Ltd. in Kochi Prefecture, a third-generation family business specializing in the processing and sale of indigenous ginger. The organization applies soil analysis and targeted nutrient management to maintain flavor and aroma while avoiding excessive fertilization. Mr. Heijiro Asano, CEO of Asano Co., Ltd. shared that its integrated processing model aims to minimize waste by utilizing all ginger outputs across fresh, processed, and powdered products. The site also operates a wastewater treatment system designed to meet strict local environmental standards. GLOBALG.A.P. certification has supported improvements in workers’ health, safety, and welfare, material management, and operational organization. These practices, verified through GLOBALG.A.P. certification, are communicated to consumers via the GGN label.

The second visit was hosted by Aeon Agri Create Co., Ltd., part of the AEON Group, which operates farms growing tomatoes for domestic retail under GLOBALG.A.P. certified production processes. The company combines controlled production with integrated logistics, allowing produce to be harvested at optimal maturity and delivered efficiently to stores. Aeon Agri Create emphasizes employee development, local employment, and positioning agriculture as a viable and attractive career. Mr. Yasuaki Fukunaga, President of Aeon Agri Create Co., Ltd, highlighted that the GGN label enables them to communicate this commitment directly to shoppers, supporting informed purchasing decisions without requiring detailed technical knowledge.
