New GLOBALG.A.P. technical working group members announced

5 min read

As part of Agraya’s revised stakeholder collaboration framework, the GLOBALG.A.P. technical committees have now transitioned to technical working groups (TWGs). Designed to increase cross-sector participation and knowledge-sharing, the TWGs expand participation opportunities beyond GLOBALG.A.P. community members to include a broader scope of relevant sector experts.

What are technical working groups?

GLOBALG.A.P. TWGs support the development of technical content for GLOBALG.A.P. solutions in key areas. Providing scientific and technical input advice, the groups offer recommendations on the development and maintenance of standards to both the GLOBALG.A.P. Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and directly to Agraya.

There are five TWGs, representing core topics of our solutions: plants, ornamentals, aquaculture, workers’ well-being, and the supply chain. Each group may contain up to 16 members, including 10 from the retail/food service and producer/supplier sectors, as well as six from certification bodies (CBs), academia, NGOs, or other industry stakeholders.

Where possible, participants reflect the global reach of our network and solutions with representation from across diverse regions.

Key activities of the TWGs include providing technical input and guidance on standard development, evaluating feedback from focus groups, and participating in the peer review process of national interpretation guidelines developed by GLOBALG.A.P. national technical working groups (NTWGs).

How are members appointed?

Members of TWGs are nominated by institutions or organizations based on their expertise and sector relevance. Typically, each organization is represented by one designated individual with the necessary knowledge and experience to effectively contribute to the goals of the TWG.

In contrast to the former GLOBALG.A.P. technical committees, TWG candidates are not required to come from a GLOBALG.A.P. community member organization. It is possible for members to participate in more than one TWG if they hold the relevant expertise.

Following a screening process and the signing of the relevant Terms of Reference, TWG members are officially appointed by Agraya in close collaboration with the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Members serve a term of four years, and may stand for reappointment subject to a formal approval process.

Introducing the members

We welcome the new TWG members and look forward to fruitful collaboration in the coming years. If you are interested in participating in a TWG, please contact committees@agraya.com.
