GLOBALG.A.P. certification solutions aim to promote safer and more responsible farming practices in agriculture, aquaculture, and floriculture. 

Producers, retailers, and supply chain stakeholders in over 130 countries use our internationally recognized standards to support the production of food and other farmed products in a manner that addresses today’s needs while preparing for future demands.

GGN label

The GGN label is a cross-category consumer label that stands for certified, responsible farming and transparency. 

Built on a robust foundation of GLOBALG.A.P. standards, the label offers relevant assurance, orientation, and transparency throughout the store – enabling consumers to trace the roots of their products in the GGN label portal through unique tracking codes on product labels.

2001
FoodPLUS GmbH is founded in Cologne, Germany, by the EHI Retail Institute as the legal entity behind EurepGAP. Tasked with developing a common standard for best practices in agriculture, EurepGAP awards the first certificates that same year.
First Milestone
2003
FoodPLUS expands into the floriculture sector with the launch of the EurepGAP Flowers and Ornamentals standard. The new standard focuses on the topics of the environment and workers’ health and safety.
Second Milestone
2004
FoodPLUS launches the first EurepGAP aquaculture standard to mark its entry into seafood certification. In the same year, the GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) is developed as the first add-on to core certification.
Third Milestone
2007
EurepGAP is rebranded as GLOBALG.A.P. to reflect its international scope. FoodPLUS continues as its managing company.
Timeline Title
2009
FoodPLUS launches the localg.a.p. capacity-building program (later Primary Farm Assurance) to support smallholders. The first GLOBALG.A.P. TOUR outreach events are also initiated globally.

GLOBALG.A.P. North America Inc. is founded as a US subsidiary of FoodPLUS GmbH.

2016
The GGN label for aquaculture is introduced, providing consumers with enhanced transparency on the source of their farmed seafood products.

2017
The GGN label expands in scope to include flowers and ornamentals, expanding transparency across more sectors.
2021
The GGN label is relaunched in a cross-category format to simplify on-pack messaging. It also expands to include fruit and vegetable products.
2023
Founding Managing Director Dr. Kristian Moeller steps down, while Dr. Elmé Coetzer-Boersma and Markus Philipp continue in their leadership roles as Managing Directors. Roberta Anderson steps up as president of GLOBALG.A.P. North America Inc.
2024
A new stakeholder collaboration framework is introduced, which includes the announced departure (in 2025) of the GLOBALG.A.P. Advisory Board and the launch of the Technical Advisory Committee.
2025
The stage is set for a new era to unfold: the exit of FoodPLUS and the rise of Agraya.
