Progress and transformation on our path to Agraya.
2001
FoodPLUS GmbH was founded in Cologne by the EHI Retail Institute as the legal entity behind EurepGAP. EurepGAP was tasked with developing a common standard for best practices in agriculture and awarded the first certificates that same year.
2003
FoodPLUS expands into the floriculture sector with the launch of the EurepGAP Flowers and Ornamentals standard. The standard focused on sustainability and worker health and safety.
2004
FoodPLUS launches the first EurepGAP aquaculture standard, starting with salmon, to mark its entry into seafood certification. That same year, GRASP is developed as the first add-on to address workers’ health, safety, and welfare alongside core certification.
2007
EurepGAP is rebranded as GLOBALG.A.P. to reflect its international scope. FoodPLUS continus as its managing company.
2009
FoodPLUS launches localg.a.p. (later Primary Farm Assurance) to support smallholders, and initiated the first GLOBALG.A.P. TOUR outreach events globally.
2010
GLOBALG.A.P. North America Inc. is founded as a US subsidiary of FoodPLUS GmbH.
2016
The GGN label for aquaculture is introduced, providing consumers with better transparency on the source of their purchased seafood products.
2017
The GGN label expands to include flowers and ornamentals, unifying transparency across sectors.
2021
The GGN label is relaunched in a cross-category format to simplify on-pack messaging and expand to fruit and vegetable products.
2023
Founding Managing Director Dr. Kristian Moeller steps down; Dr. Elmé Coetzer-Boersma and Markus Philipp continue in their leadership roles as Managing Directors. Roberta Anderson steps up as president of GLOBALG.A.P. North America Inc.
2024
A new stakeholder framework is introduced which includes the announced departure (in 2025) of the Advisory Board and the launch of the Technical Advisory Committee.
2025
The stage is set for a new era to unfold: the exit of FoodPLUS and the rise of Agraya.
